For me, the highlight of this report is Section 4 which looks at research informed clinical practice for teacher training. Katherine Burn and Trevor Mutton describe the Oxford Internship Programme where Trainees are immersed in the life of the school and learn through their experience. Skillful mentoring by University tutors and school-based mentors support beginner teachers/interns to recognise the tacit learning they see and develop in the classroom. These teachers are then better placed to recognise and unpick ‘their craft knowledge’. I would love to see this model adopted more widely!
